inverto.ensemble

 The inverto.ensemble is a group specialising in historical informed performance. It was founded in 2023 on the initiative of traversist Marta Gawlas and Aleksandra Żebrowska, who plays historical keyboard instruments. At first they performed as a duo, but after a while they decided to expand to a trio and cellist Matylda Adamus joined the ensemble. 

The Inverto Ensemble seeks constant movement and transformation, guided by the belief that every interpretation of music is a process of transformation and renewal. Like all living things, music is in constant flux, becoming something new with each new performance. The ensemble focuses on 18th and 19th century compositions, relying on the flexibility of reading 18th and 19th century compositions and seeing in them infinite possibilities of interpretation, as well as reviving the practice of ornamentation and improvisation still present in the music of the period. 

The ensemble's aim is not to recreate the past faithfully, but to enter into an active dialogue with it - treating composition as a material that can be shaped to reveal its ambiguity. Just as no two moments are the same, each concert becomes a unique experience in which the music takes on a new form, full of emotion and energy.

The Inverto Ensemble believes that music, like the world around us, is in constant motion, and that every attempt to understand it brings new insights into what already seems well known.
